Very functional and I found it being much snappier than using inbuilt WiFi Tethering. The logging is very nice, client list also very nice. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because of aesthetic things that I don't personally like that look too cartoony for my liking. Particularly: *Orange notification icon of an octopus, not even with little wireless rays coming out of its head like in the application icon - if it had these it probably would be bearable as it indicates something useful. *Non capitalised titles to tabs *Tab buttons too large *Start/Stop + Associate buttons way too large! They could be half the width and put on the same row. I can't flaw this product in absolutely any other way the UI though just makes me cringe a little when I use it. 3/5

I was using Wireless Tether for a while but after the update my G Tablet consistently dropped the connection (it would reestablish connection in a few seconds after the wifi request was made again) and it was getting really annoying. Luckily, I read about this app and tried it. I have to say it works like a champ. I've been using it most of the day and it hasn't dropped the connection once. I highly recommend it. 5/5

Able to surf web, albeit very slowly, but trying to download maybe a 50+ MB file, it will eventually time out. I get maybe a maximum of 150 Kbps (I'm on a full signal 4G connection). And why does the DHCP lease need to endlessly be renewed?! Only stuck using this because ICS ROM leaked won't run WiFi Tether or Open Garden. Rooted T-Bolt. 1/5

My phone has the stock rooted Tmo ICS update. Barnacle says it stops unexpectedly. I used it daily for instant bids and Billing for my mobile business. Please fix I will then rerate 1/5

Sorry guys but only having WEP security is lame. That is like paper over a doorway, not much protection. You need WPA2 for the best or at least WPA. Maybe if they add that this will be a good app, until then use at your own risk. 3/5

Free app but have to PAY FOR DATA PLAN - some ppl don't realise that! Great as my tendering used to be locked but now i can use 3g to stream stuff to my laptop & pc! I get speeds of ~1.5mbps (faster than my original WiFi) Keep the good work up 5/5

As long as you have root this is the best way to go. It's so easy, there's a go button and a stop button, the errors are written in plain english and usually even if there is an error, IT WORKS ANYWAYS! Who could ask for more? 5/5

I am reluctant to bash this app because it saved me multiple times prior to the 2.3 update, making me think that gingerbread is the reason that this app no longer functions for many droid2 users. Reading other comments tell stories of great success the way this useful app used to work 4/5

I tried at least ten other WIFI tether apps before finding Barnacle. It gave me a message about a problem and asked me if I wanted to try a work around. I accepted, and now I'm writing this message from my laptop WIFI 5/5

I use it to connect out in the field every day. If you're getting errors, try restarting the wifi on your phone before pressing the start button. Be careful your PC isn't running any auto updates or anything. You can blow through a month's worth of data incredibly quickly if you're not careful. 5/5

Shell-init: error retrieving current directory: getcwd: can not access parent directories: access denied. I get this message 3 times. Followed by. Segmentation fault. My Xbox connects to barncle but doesn't get internet access. Laptop also connects but has limited connectivity. Help would be nice. 2/5

I have experienced minor problems where it will not provide a multicast and doesn't run properly. I have a Glacier 4G CM7. If you could fix, that would be splendid! :) 5/5

It sometimes has problems with wifi manager and then refuses to restart until I close it in settings/applications/ running/cached applications then it usually works. Also it stops working sometimes and I have "associate", open garden has neither of this things but had a different problem so this is still the best option. Thx for making this app :-) 4/5

Ever since updating my Droid X to Android Version 2.3.3 rooted, Verizon has blocked any attempt to get free wifi. When Barnacle starts it throws this error: DHCP: could not bind to DHCP port Address already in use. I've researched this and contacted the developer, but he hasn't responded to anybody with a fix from what I've seen. This used to be great App, but has since fallen hard. 1/5

Works, BUT it won't let me password protect my signal. No matter what I put in as the password, it just keeps saying "password must be 5 or. 13 characters." Uninstalling and downloading one that actually works. 1/5

Tethering with this app still charges me. The T-Mobile Mobile Hot-Spot sign-up page loads on every page and window after about 10 minutes online. I thought this app would allow me FREE wifi tethering. 1/5
